Parties On the Day After New Year's Eve With Good Luck Foods

Planning events for the day after New Year's Eve will set you event or celebration apart from the crowd. There are great choices for New Years Day festivities. How early you want to start the activities depends to some extent on how your guests pick to celebrate New Year's Eve.

Early planning with considering the type of guest in mind can determine the activity like catching the early sales! Plan in advance with your guests to have everyone come armed with sales papers, coupons and ads. Spend the morning shopping for bargains and then have a relaxing lunch at a hip restaurant before continuing the shopping party. Keep the costs down with free printable New Year's invitations.

Good Luck Foods in New Year
Celebrations for the day after New Year's Eve may include inviting guests to a "living healthy in the New Year" event. If you have exercise equipment to use that's great, but it isn't necessary. You can get a few workout DVDs and clear a space for friends to exercise or plan a good route for a group hike. For refreshments, try fresh fruits and a veggie tray. Sandwiches made with turkey or chicken and whole wheat bread work well along with fruit juice drinks. Get everyone involved by having them bring their special recipe.

Of course parties for the day after New Year's Eve may include a football event. Send out invitations several weeks in advance and then since this is such a busy season, send out, "looking forward to seeing you at the event" reminders. Have party supplies of your favorite team for decorations. Use a football field tablecloth and put snacks and sandwiches on football shaped trays. Have themed party blowers as decorations on the refreshment table and also scattered throughout the room so guests can use them during the game. Try placing a large sign on one wall that reads, "It's Game Time!!" Scatter some foam rubber footballs throughout the room so guests can play with them. Nerd type toys can also be thrown around even at the TV screen.

In many homes, the Celebrations for the day after New Year's Eve include traditional New Year's Day "lucky" food. Different cultures have different foods which when consumed on New Year's Day are said to bring good luck. In the southern United States collard greens or cabbage, black-eyed peas and pork are often the traditional lucky New Year's Day meal.

The collard greens and cabbage stand for paper money and the black-eyed peas for pocket change. One Asian tradition has long noodles which must be eaten without breaking any, as the lucky New Years food. Invite family and friends to a Lucky New Year's Day event and serve them several dishes that are supposed to bring them good luck in the New Year.

Preparing to Save in the New Year

Can you believe that 2014 is behind us? A new year means new challenges and new resolutions. Are you prepared to save your family even more money than you did last year? I thought it would helpful to share with you all a few money saving tips to start this new year off right...

Preparing to Save in the New Year
Set a Goal for yourself.

This is one of the most important things when saving money. How much money would you like to start saving on a weekly or monthly basis? Even if it is just a few dollars, setting a goal for yourself not only keeps you accountable to the money that is coming and going from your checking account, but it also keeps you motivated. Remember to start small. You are not going to be a pro at saving money overnight. It takes a little bit of time and effort. I think that you will be amazed at how much money you can save in just a little amount of time.
Plan Ahead.

I find that planning ahead is not only a money-saver, but it also helps me with time management. Whether it's planning your next week's trip to the grocery store or planning the schedule around when you pay your bills each month, planning ahead is a very important part of saving money. I find that planning ahead also keeps me from impulse buying!

Keep track of how much money that you save.

Each time that you go shopping, save your receipts. At the end of the month, add up all the savings to see how much money that you have actually saved. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Use Coupons.

I have talked about coupon usage in depth before, but I just want to remind you that using coupons is a great way to save some extra money. Using coupons and shopping sales not only helps to cut down on the cost of your grocery budget, but it is also a great way to build up a nice stockpile of items to live off in case of emergency.

Use the envelope method. Set aside money each week for groceries, clothing, fun money, eating out, etc… and place it in an envelope. You can only use the money from that particular envelope for each category. This will really challenge you to stay within your budget!

Cut out unnecessary costs.

Are there areas of your life that you could cut out costs on? For example, if you are really trying to save money, think about brewing your coffee at home instead of picking up a cup of java at your favorite coffee shop. Or, think about taking your lunch with you to work instead of purchasing it every day. What about the cable on your television? Is it a nicety or a necessity? These things alone could really save you quite a bit of money by the end of the year.

Plan date nights at home.

You can save some extra money by cooking your spouse their favorite meal and having a date night in. Rent a movie from the local Redbox or Blockbuster kiosk for $1 and you have a super sweet and inexpensive date night!

These are just a few of the many money-saving ideas that are out there. I hope that you will find them helpful and have a great start to 2015!

New Year’s Eve Outfits for Couples

New Year’s Eve is one of the most magical nights of the year. It’s perfect for catching up with friends, partying the night away and reminiscing about the year that was over a few drinks. It’s also a great excuse to dress up to the nines and channel your inner fashionista. Of course, there’s no point in looking gorgeous if your boyfriend or hubby is going to be standing next to you in jeans and a t-shirt.

Still planning your New Year’s Eve Outfits? We’ve got some great New Year’s Eve ideas to help you out. These four couples’ outfits will guarantee you and your lover get noticed for all the right reasons.

1) Beautiful in Black Tie

If you’re going to be spending your New Year’s Eve at a fancy restaurant or upscale party, you can’t go wrong with classic black tie attire. Fortunately, these events make it very easy to coordinate couples’ outfits with your significant other. Encourage him to wear his favourite black suit, with a white dress shirt and a skinny black tie. For a perfect fit, make sure his suit jacket fits snugly on his shoulders.

This effortlessly classy look leaves you with several options for New Year’s Eve Outfits. Consider donning your little black dress with strappy silver heels for a timeless, sophisticated look with a hint of flair. For something more neutral but equally sexy, a cream or nude dress that ends mid-thigh is also a great choice. Try the Trixi Junior’s A-line Dress with beaded embellishments. Get it from Macy’s using a Macy’s Coupon for awesome savings!

Accessories with gold jewellery if you’re warm-toned and silver jewellery if you’re cool-toned.

2) Trendy in Trench Coats

Trench coats are also classic New Year’s Eve Outfits, particularly for those of us intending to brave the fireworks in the chilly, winter weather. For easy, well-coordinated couples’ outfits, get your partner to break out a tailored, dark trench coat. If he’s tall, a trench coat that ends around knee height will suit him best. Shorter guys, however, can give the illusion of added height by choosing a coat that’s no longer than mid-thigh length. Add a red scarf for a pop of colour.

For the ladies, we suggest a trench coat that ends mid-thigh and has a slight flare below the waist to give the impression of an hourglass figure. Trench coats with pockets and button embellishments have more of a feminine feel. Pair your coat with tights and chocolate brown ankle boots, like this gorgeous pair of suede, studded Dansko Nikita boots. Save on your purchase with an eBay Coupon Code.

3) Natural in Knitwear

If your New Year’s Eve ideas involve cuddling up on the couch or meeting up casually with friends, forgo a fitting dress in favour a comfortable and cosy cable-knit sweater. For a cute, feminine look, choose a peach colour. Then, add your favorite pair of jeans and some shoes you can slip on and off easily for maximum comfort. Even UGGS complement this casual look.

To complete your couples outfits, your man needs a sweater too. Keep in mind that most men prefer dark shades to reinforce their masculinity. He can pair his knitwear with a casual pair of jeans (no skinnies, please!) and comfortable shoes of his choosing. This look is all about achieving New Year’s Eve Outfits that are cosy but presentable.

4) Brilliant in Black & White

Coordinating black and white is a super cute idea for couples’ outfits.Have your man dress in a sharp suit with a crisp, white dress shirt and smart shoes. If the function you’re attending in your New Year’s Eve Outfits is only semi-formal, he can forgo the tie… but, let’s face it, ties are sexy.

Your own outfit should be predominately white to match with his black ensemble. Choose a fitted, white blazer to help you cast a flattering, formal silhouette. Offset this corporate style by wearing a more ladylike dress underneath, such as the Teeze Me Juniors Strapless Ruffled High-Low Dress.

The white bodice with a sweetheart neckline and the flowing black skirt, come together in a marriage of charming femininity. Get yours from Macy’s using a Macys Coupon. Finish your look with a pair of peep-toe white or cream heels and sheer beige tights.

Whether you’re headed out for a night on the town or simply staying in to snuggle, you and your beau will look fabulous in one of these four simple but stylish New Year’s Eve Outfits.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas for the New Year

It is that time of year again - out with the old, and in with the new! After all of the twinkling and brightness of the holidays, rooms in your home can start to look pretty bleak when it is time to take the tree down and pack away the decorations for another year.

It does not have to be that way though - what a better way to start the New Year off with a bang than with some redecorating? And why not start with the haven of your home, one of the most important rooms- your bedroom.Compiled here are some bedroom decorating ideas to help you skip the after Christmas blues straight into an amazing New Year.

Rich Hues

One of the most depressing aspects of winter is the gray, colorless skies and the gray, colorless dirty snow on the ground. For the New Year, try something a bit daring, and try a rich purple or blue on your bed and windows like seen above.

This is a great option if you are interested in playing with color, but are not at the point yet where you are willing to paint your walls a deep shade. Try this beautiful Calvin Klein option from Macy’s and get an additional 20% off with Macys Coupon

A New Headboard

In most bedrooms, the bed is the centerpiece of attention. Because the bed is one of the first things one sees when entering the room, an easy idea for redecorating your room is to get a new headboard. A tufted headboard like the one shown above adds a touch of elegance to any room, and they are typically available in a variety of colors.

A quick search online will give you plans for how to make one yourself, or, for those not as handy, use these Kohls coupons and order yourself a new headboard and completely redecorate your bedroom.

Throw pillows

To quickly redecorate your bedroom, all you need to do is add a variety of throw pillows. Try a color opposite from your bedding, like shown here, to completely change the look of the room. Not only does it add a new pop of color to your bedroom, but it also allows for a more comfortable, softer night’s sleep. Be sure to grab this Target Promo Code to save 40% on a throw blanket to go with your new pillows.

Moody Walls

Are you super daring? You may want to try one of the hottest new trends in wall color to redecorate your room. Dark colors, specifically black, are the new white when it comes to painting walls. Shown here with white accessories throughout the room and a white ceiling, dark walls make a room more glamorous. Dark walls do have the potential to make a room seem smaller, so they are best in a room with a source of natural light and lighter colored furniture.

Paper the Walls

Looking to add a little more texture to your bedroom makeover? Here is an idea- wallpaper. If you are wallpaper shy, try papering just one accent wall, like shown here. Wallpaper can add just a pop of color and texture to your room makeover while allowing you to keep the rest of your lines smooth, clean, and modern. Head on over to Ebay to peruse the variety of wallpaper options, then use this Ebay coupon code to save on your wallpaper purchase.

Mural

When looking for bedroom redecorating ideas, you can’t forget about the kiddos. If you are looking to add some cute to your baby nursery, why not consider a whimsical mural, like the one shown here? It adds just the right amount of something to the child’s room without being completely overwhelming and obnoxious.

With these helpful ideas for redecorating your bedroom, there is no way you will find yourself struck with the winter blues. Your home will look better than it did at Christmas, and you will find yourself searching for bedroom decorating ideas every New Year !
